What am I listening to today? Ora Cogan’s ‘Crickets’ review
I recently discovered this ambient-folk with hints of psychedelia and dreamy synth-pop album and got sucked into it from beginning to end. Ora Cogan’s fifth album combines her angelic voice and dreamy guitar playing with Tom Deis’ (Uni Ika Ai) beautifully arranged synth, bass and guitar. Collaborating with Dani Markham ( percussion, drums), Maia Friedman ( background vocals) and Russell Kotcher (violin), she managed to compose a consistent album which should be consumed as a whole. So, if you’re one of those people who finds it hard to get their shit together and just stay put for 20 minutes to reflect on your life, this album will help. It’s the perfect invitation to enter a world of your own.
The album was recorded in Philadelphia at the WXPN Studio in February 2017 and was released on Nov 3rd, 2017.
